Title III, Part A: Limited English Proficient (LEP)
Title III supports language instruction for limited - English proficient and immigrant students. The California English Language Development Test (CELDT) is a required state test for English language proficiency that must be given to students whose primary language is other than English.
The fundamental goal of the program is for EL students to function successfully in the English language and to maintain comparable academic progress with English only students.
